Dane, thank for sharing all your knowledge on your blog. However, I can not stop thinking of your title photo of your blog. The two climbers just below the cornice has taken a route that really needs a lot of skill and courage, and the route really scares me...

Where is the photo taken, and what are the story behind it?

Best regards
Björn

Hi Bjorn. The climb is Slipstream in the Canadian Rockies. It is the easiest technical route on the east face of Snow Dome and the obviously much harder route on the North side which we see the top of in that photo. Heady stuff for us in 1981. Technically casual today but long and as you noted dangerous in bad conditions an the obvious objective danger that is always there. More here: http://coldthistle.blogspot.com/search?q=slipstream

cheers!

Thanks for filling me in. Two things really scares me in alpine climbing, snowfields on blue ice, and passing a cornice. There seems to be plenty of both on that route. Anyway, a beautiful wall and beautiful route, good work doing it in 1981.
